The New Yarnigans Blog

Jude wanted to make me a rainbow birthday cake this year, and how could I say no to that?  I saw something here on the craft magazine blog that made me think it would work, but I didn’t feel like making the cake from scratch so I changed it up a bit.  I used two boxes of classic vanilla cake mix.  Each layer was about 2 cups of batter, baked in a 9” round pan and colored with plain old gel coloring.  The layers are uneven, and the colors didn’t turn out that bright, but it was still delicious and Jude loved it.
